Day 5 - Technical Difficulties DELAYS... All ok...

Well, the babes thought that they would have an easy day. So,they slept in a little late, had a leisurely breakfast and just hung out for little bit. finally, on the road about 9:30 o'clock. Then darn, drat, technical difficulties!!! The GPS didn't work and they had to spend probably two hours being delayed trying to get it fixed!!

To fix the gps they stopped at a place called The Old Bag factory. For couple of old biker ladies that was just the perfect fit!! Sheri worked on getting the GPS fixed while Biffy went shopping! Of course! And what did Biffy find....some lovely jewelry! And she found some  simply lovely midwesterners. The four people werw on bicycles and could not have been nicer. They joked about racing the Harleys and Biffy gave them a hard time because they were not wearing their helmets - what would their children think!  And the best part, of meeting "fellow" bikers was that they bought Biffys coffee for her!! You got to love those midwesterners such a kindhearted lot.

The babes certainly knew they are in the Midwest, because the most common phrases they heard were: oh yeah, so, ok and Ya. And Biffy was experiencing major withdrawal as the rode past HUNDREDS of real yard sales. None of those California faux yard sales where people just throw their crap out on the yard. These Midwesterners, they know how to throw a yard sale! There were tables neatly organize with all kinds of stuff. And biffy and Sherry did not stop for one of them!! Biffy is now having the shakes and experiencing serious nausea from the withdrawal from not being able to stop the yard sales!!!

Another cool thing in the Midwest, even their garbage trash bins are nifty keen. The biker babes saw  bright pink recycling totes! Yup, they have recycling totes that are in honor of breast cancer! Bright pink! Now that was a roadside oddity or at least something to ponder. Buffy thinks the bright pink recycling tote with the even better if they were bedazzled!!  Such an inspiration to take back to California.

So, before they left the old bag factory, did biffy uncovered another of Indiana's treasures. Throughout the state of Indiana they have quilts flower gardens. And there was one at the old bag factory. It was simply beautiful! Flowers arranged like quilts!!You got a love midwesterners creativity.

Oh yea,The old bag factory also used to be a train depot. Inside  Biffy got to see one of her Roadside oddities. Where else would she have been able to see an original switch panel? Yeah, switches to turn on and off the trains. And she got to  flip them woo hoo. Our Biffy she loves to flip things off, just ask the guys at chi town hd!!

The babes had a short ride today,  it was pretty, pretty Indiana and ohio just simply simply beautiful! They traveled the historic lincoln hiway that is celebrating 50 years ago ground braking!! The hiway goes from new york to san francisco and opened up the country for interstate commerece!! The road past beautiful lakes and rivers.

As the biker babes road through the back roads of I Biffys  heart warmed and grew and grew and grew. Just like the Grinch! Although she just is not green but her hair may look similar to the grinch.. Biffy was really was growing homesick for the Midwest. She saw sumac trees, Queen Anne's lace and Chicory plants. The Chickory has the most pretty blue flowers ever ever, ever. Both the Chickory in the Queen Anne's lace are considered weeds but Biffy thinks they are absolutely beautiful. And when she sees them she know she's home in the Midwest. where people laugh and buy weird Californians coffee!

The Babes did have to travel part of the interstate. And that was quite an experience. Now, mostly Midwesterners are a smart like a lot. But the biker babes had major issue with the tollroads! Who in gods name thought about setting up tollroads the way they have them in Ohio!!!!  Go through one tollbooth snd you have to pull a ticket. And then the And make sure you don't lose that ticket because at the next tollbooth you have to Giveback the ticket and pay for it. You know how complicated this is to do on a motorcycle??? Geees.

Finally, the biker babes did get to their destination right on Lake Erie!! And they found a Harley dealership right down the street from the hotel.the dealership, is having a raffle for a quilt!" With motorcycles on it!! Could that be any more midwestern!of course Biffy bought six tickets!!
