Thankfully, the biker babes no longer had to ponder billboards advertising very, very, strange professions. Instead they cruised through Nebraska and even got to Iowa!!
Instead of the creepy billboards, the biker babes ran across charming little cities in Nebraska like one called "Friends" and another little town called "wahoo." Yep a real town called wahoo. Of course Biffy had to find out what the origin of that city's name meant. Come to find out Wahoo is actually a kind of bush!!! Hmmm, Biffy seems to have her own Fond memories of experiencing bush while saying wahoo ...... (Ya think about that you'll get it).
At one stop, the found the most creative use of tires ever!!! Who knew one could make such a lovely art installation by pairing tires, putting plants I them and hanging the tires on the fence. Now, that is pretty.....call MOMA now... Kandinsky has competition for sure!!
The land between Wahoo and Friends couldn't be more beautiful!! Lush and green rolling plains with an occasional lake plotted in the scenery, just to make it even more pretty. At one point, while traveling through Nebraska, superSheri did question, if it was the cornhusker state. Super's..Sherry happened to mention she hadn't seen any cornfields!!!! Those acres and acres of that superduper tall grass, no that could not have been cornfields , no not at all. It was just super, super big tall grass with little cob thingies coming out of it. Yeah, Sheri finally did realize that that grass was corn and we were in the cornhusker state.
Biffy is in withdrawal from her favorite Dutch brothers coffee. In this part of the world they drink..Sapp Brothers coffee. Must be a thing that brothers like to sell coffee....The Sapp Brothers does have a cool logo... Biggest coffee pot in the sky... Almost like a coffee roadside oddity!
Much of the day was a quiet, peaceful ride as they rolled through the cornfields a.k.a. really tall grass, the rolling hills under a bright sun and beautiful beautiful blue sky.
But of course, a day couldn't go by without stopping to see a roadside oddity. The biker babes went to this museum sort of thing. they had to go through a gate, with a "charming" little old lady guarding the gate. She was quite insistent that the biker babes were required to pay eight dollars EACH to get in to see the god damn Roadside oddity! Super Sheri shook her head at that eight dollar fee per person but Biffy would have none of the head shaking. She said BBs were going in to see that Roadside oddity! Since it wasn't an option to just leave that Museum super Sherry got out her super negotiating skills and got them each a dollar off the ticket because they are AARP members. Age has value!
Now, how does one value whether a roadside oddities that cost seven dollars each ..that's $14 total ...was really worth it!? The check out the pictures of the bronze statue of the two young boys riding a horse. They were shot with arrows, four different times!! Now, where else could you have seen a bronze statue of two kids with four arrows in
them....that's a Roadside oddity and worth every penny of that fourteen dollars!!
Just as nifty keen was something Inside the museum!!! A mighty, mighty big wooden horse!! What is a big Woodenhorse doing in a museum?
Another oddity, was found at the gas station. A series of traveling tools....a cover wagon, a tank, some other green thing ... An old fuel tank... Proudly displayed for all to see... Yup, something to be proud of!! Cornhusker pride!!
Along the way, the biker babes were treated to see just the cutest water tower ever... It is bright yellow and has a happy face on it!!! (Pix is kind of far away but zoom in to see sme) these mid westerns... Such a happy lot!! Biffy loves having her roots as part of happy Midwestern lot.... People are nice and smile a lot in the Midwest!! That's a good thing!?
on the road, the biker babes saw an Unusual sight. Across the freeway was one of the longest, longest things they've ever seen on the freeway!! It was a blade from a windmill!! Had to be at least 50 feet long! And the blade was followed by the turbine and other parts of the wind meal. It was amazing to see. Of course a little while later they did right through a huge windmill farm. It was pretty incredible don't think we've ever seen Lynmills up close so close to the freeway.
The next stop, for the double bs was at the Harley-Davidson shop in Omaha Nebraska. Biffy picked up one more dealer charm for her charm bracelet. She has charms from many harley shops across the country. They are pretty neato keen.
About five midafternoon and the babes were assessing how much more energy they had i them. They are tough biker chicks! So off to Altoona Iowa they went! As they got into Altoona they saw the most beautiful moon rise, ever, ever, ever ever! The moon was an amazing orange and peach color against a dark blue black sky. the babes couldn't get a picture but it was fucking amazing and then they got into the hotel, got some pizza and crashed.
