Day 10 371miles/ 3075 total Miles - THE END

PICTURES COMING SOON

Yippee!! We are home, we are home!! We made it all 3075 miles.

It was a relatively quick ride up I-5. We experienced a plethora of smells. We passed fields and fields of multi-colored roses and they smelled so nice. Then on the freeway we we being hit by lots of white flakes...what the heck, then the air smelled of garlic...ah that is where those white flakes came from - truck loads and truck loads of fresh garlic!! Then the girls passed the loveliest smell of all....Harrahs Ranch!! Yup literally fields and fields of thousands of cows...and their lovely smell. yummmmm. Yea, the smells are definitely part of the riding experience, and a huge difference from riding in a car.

And as usual, TerBear, MarBear and Stella H. Wood (the dog) caused some trouble on their last day. They fought dinosaurs, met a native American and were almost arrest.but Super Sheri came to the rescue and got those naughty girls out of trouble. They are bad, bad girls.

Today the girls went out and celebrated by getting pedicures and manicures!! That is the perfect way to end a SPETACULAR motorcycle journey!!

Thank you to everyone who has followed us, laughed with us and kept us in your thoughts. Your positive thoughts were with us each mile and we are blessed to have you all in our lives. Bif says a special thanks for all the positve thoughts for her daddio, he got his pacemaker yestedrday and is doing swell.

Until the next adventure...

Day 9 - 347miles / 2704 total miles UGLY DAY!!

The morning started out so well and so calmly as they rode throught he dessert.....but that did serenity did not hold for the rest of the day.

The girls decided to take it easy, sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast and then get going. About 10am they hopped on the bikes and headed west, further into California and toward Riverside to visit a friend of Sheris. The ride was hot but beautiful as they past through the dessert. It was another beautiful ride, and the girls saw spectacular dessert views and windmills farms. That was really cool.

TerBear and MerBear had a bad feeling about going into the LA area. They tried telling Bif and Sheri about their feelings bu Bif said...like we would take you seriously...you are stuffed with fluff..... Bif has now recognized that her judgemental ways did her no good...people stuffed with fluff not only have things to say...Bif should pay attention to those fluff ideas.

So, the gang first stop was going to be at the Loma Linda HD dealership. As they came off the hi way, Bif was hot and tired. As they came of the exit and stopped Biff lost her footing because of oil and gravel. And with the extra weight of the luggage on her bike Biff almost dumped it fortunately she was able to hold the entire bike up with one hand. Yet, that much weight on one hand was a bit too much and Biff's wrist puffed up and is a wee bit swollen. So, it will have to be wrapped for the rest of the trip.

When they got to the Loma Linda dealer it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience and it was a tiny dealership. The girls really, really needed a break, a rest and to cool down. Unlike some of the other dealers, this one did not have a nice rider lounge area. But the the girls made do and grab some cool drinks and hung out for a while. That dealership did have dealer charms so Biff was excited about adding to her bling, bling!!

Then the girls were off for a quick ride over to the Skip Fordice HD dealer. Now this dealership knows how to treat customers/Bikers. As the girls walked in they were greeted with friendly faces, shown where the lounge as and given cool water. And Bif found the sparkliest helmet she has ever seen. Oh Boy!!

Sheri hooked up with her friend Alison who couldn't have en nicer. She runs the Riders edge program at Fordice. Alison was so nice that she was introduced to TerBear and MarBear. Hmm....that TerBear was caught giving Alison the wink, wink in a oh so subtle flirty way. MarBear was none to happy with such behavior.

Then the girls were ready to take off again about 3pm....and the real adventure of the day began!! The girls were going to go to Bakersfield for the evening ...well Riverside to Bakersfield.....167 miles ....not too long of a jaunt.... that is not that long of a ride....Except that day.....SIX and a half hours latter the girls arrived there. Yes that is SIX fucking hours latter!!! First it took the girls over two hours to go the forty miles to get out of LA. And those oh so careful LA drivers...gotta love them....NOT.....numerous times the girls were forced to spilt lanes...not by their choice. Oh maybe, hose LA people just wanted to be closer to the fabulous biker babes...yea that was it...they just wanted to be close. NOT. Bif is Yowzer...Bif has resolved never EVER to ride anywhere near LA again.

Oh but the fun did not end with just getting out of LA. The traffic lessened and the girls began zooming their way up the Grapevine. Now they were moving vroom vroom. Yet that only lasted a few minutes, as the got over the top of the grapevine traffic came to an almost complete stop. Oy vey, not good on a bike. The girls turned off their engines and inch by inch rolled down the Grapevine. That went on for an hour and a half or so.

Finally, they were able to pull off at a rest stop where they met the most interesting people. Sheri met an ...an....interesting (well that is one way of describing him) tow truck driver who had the hots for Sheri. And Bif met a cute Brazilian boy named Fabio. He was riding a little 650 Yamaha- god knows how that bike even made it over the Grapevine. He was fun to chat with and they all chatted about bikes and different rides they had been on. And the girls had a yummy gourmet meal from Subway. yummmmm...

The sun went down and finally it looked like traffic was moving. Apparently, the hold up was from a semi truck that lost it's breaks and smashed into at least four cars and there was at least one fatality. To move the wreckage they brought in bulldozers!! Bad, bad accident.

So, finally the girls and Fabio rode down the grapevine and pulled into the Hampton Inn about 9:30pm - tired, hot and cranky....long long day. And to their surprise the Hampton Inn turned out to be a terrific experience. The lady at the counter, Angela, could not have been kinder and the beds were perfect!! Angela even made sure the girls got ice and an ace bandage for Bif now very sore and swollen writs.

So,it was a very nice end to a tough tough day. And the biggest lesson - Bif and Sheri will never again ignore the advice the fluff stuffed pals......Don't go to LA on a bike never EVER!!!

Day 8 - 543 miles/ 2357 total miles Back in CA

SWIM SUITS FOR A HOT RIDE!!!

HOLY BALONEY!! 543 miles in hot, hot weather!!!

What an amazing ride through three states!! The girls went through the Painted Dessert in New Mexico, the pine forests of Flagstaff Arizona and the Saguaro Catcus and dessert of Phoenix - all in one day!!! The entire ride was a visual dessert cart. There couldn't be a more amazing way to see the county than on our bikes.

The weather held out for the girls as they arrived in Flagstaff Arizona. The HD dealership was fabulous, except they did not carry dealer charms darn it. In addition to the store they had a cool roadside cafe where Sheri got to grill the girls hamburgers all by herself!! The people were great there and the girls met a couple traveling from southern Ill. They had a big huge ultra classic and a trailer. And the trailer was specifically so the woman could do a lot of shopping while they were on their motorcycle adventure!! Now that is Bif's kind of gal.....Oh Sheri can you say...trailer.......hint, hint......Also, one of the sales girls is from Berkley and was very excited to met her hometown girls. She especially liked meeting TerBear and MerBear. Hmmm that TerBear seemed a bit tooo interested in the sales girl......MerBear was giving her an evil eye.

The ride down to Phoenix was filled with incredible scenery and rain!! Thankfully, the girls avoided serious rainfall but wetness they did experience was quickly dried up by the dessert air!

Biff was not all that thrilled about going through Arizona and especially not Phoenix. About ten years ago, Biff had been bainshed from any semblance of liberal or progressive society and forced to live in Phoenix for a couple years. The trauma of those years, still hasn't worn off and she was a bit wary of getting any where near Phoenix. But fortunately this tour of Phoenix was pretty nice. The Harley Davidson dealership, Buddy Stubs, was very nice and had a great rider lounge where the girls took a nice long break. And the best part was that the dealership had screaming deals that Bif just couldn't pass up. And irony of irony Bif bought just the cutest sued winter jacket at the Phoenix dealership. It even has the softest fur on it!!!

Then they were back on the bikes and off to California. It was a hot, hot ride. Check out Bif's lovely look at the rest stop. Now that is a cover girl look if we ever saw one. And Terbear and MerBear decide it was way too hot to stay in their clothes. So they changed into their swim suits...MarBear is hot in her bikini!!!

As the girls crossed the state line into California they rode into the sunset. What a perfect way to end the day.

Day 7- 510 miles/ 1814 total Miles Gallup NM

VROOM VROOM VROOM....yup we cruised today - right through Colorado, Santa Fee NM, and Albuquerque NM to our resting place of Gallup NM... We are in famous Route 66 about to have dinner and rest!! That is Sheri in the picture.
BIKES AND GAS......
We are blessed that the bikes are working great. Yes, Mark and Tim from Bachmans did a good job getting the bikes ready for the trip. We love Bachmans - the bestest mechanics in the whole world, even if Marc is full of himself!! That is what we love about him.

We did almost have one little tiny incident on the bikes today. Who knew when riding through strong head winds that your bike would use up sooooo much gas. So there we were zooming right along and Bif noticed that she only had 20miles of gas left. OH NO!! It was only about 100 degrees out and in the middle of the dessert...nothing in site for cover or shade. Well, seconds latter the remaining gas was down to 12 miles......double OH NO........Bif zoomed up to Sheri and hoped she would invoke her super powers and find us a gas station lick-it-dee split. Wowzer, wowzer those super powers worked - and there appeared a gas station!!! Whew.... In celebration of invoking gas stations, Super Sheri's hair spiked up and turned orange!!!

The Scenery......
In less than 24 hours we crossed the Continental Divide twice. Now the water is running toward the west - not that we have seen a lot of water in New Mexico. Is there some kind of deep spiritual meaning about which way the water runs???? Or maybe it just means the water is following a different way....

The last part of Colorado was filled with rolling hills and lush greenery. The scenery changed into the beautiful red rocks of New Mexico. They are just as breath taking as the Colorado. Check out the pictures, just don't even know if there are words to describe the beauty of the red rocks, volcanic rocks, mesas and all the land. Incredible!!!

The weather definitely got hotter as we got into New Mexico. Fortunately it did not get scorching hot and while riding the girls stayed cool. Only when they stopped did they realize hot dang hot it was!! And fortunately, the girls were able to avoid an afternoon thunderstorm that was going to hit Albuquerque.

Fun Notes

When the girls stopped at the Albuquerque the girls ran into the New Mexico Hog State Rally!!! And the best part was that the dealership had screaming sales....yes Bif bought more stuff and found another cool charm. Bling Bling...

TerBear Update

Our Terbear is having a blast riding bitch on Biffys bike. And the ride is much more fun now that she has MarBear along side of her. TerBear is calming down her ways as she is settling into her friendship with MarBear. Along the ride today, the two of them opened up their hearts when they saw a poor lonely doggie along the side of the road. They made Biffy pull over and now the dou has adopted that doggie and she is coming along for the ride!!!! Ter and MarBear are discussing what to name their new doggie - anyone got any suggestions???

That is all for tonight,

Day 6 189miles/ Bye to Conference - Hello to Pueblo,CO

It was a peaceful easy day for the girls today. They spent the morning packing up all their treasures they purchased and shipping them home - limited space on those darn bikes ya know. And they spent some time back at the conference where they ran into pals from Sacramento. And check out this bling blinged bike!! Girls know how to do it right!!! And Bif thinks this is inspiration for her to bling out her bike...hmm the possibilities...

Bif and Sheri had a short ride from Keystone to Pueblo CO. As they rode out of keystone they smell the pines until they rode through a 2 mile long tunnel under a mountain - where that pine was replaced with diesel smells...yum. They also crossed the Continental divide and now the water runs to the east. They also pasted Buffalo Bills grave site and saw real buffalo!!

Bif is all a twitter because now that they are off that dang hwy 50 they are actually seeing Harley dealerships where Bif is adding to her HD charm collection. She has eleven charms and her bracelet is looking mighty stunning!! At the Pike's Peak dealership the girls took a bit of a break and had a picnic in the rider lounge. The dealership had a very cool mural across the wall.
Upon arriving in Pueblo CO the girls and terbear visited the HD dealership that happen to be right next to their hotel!! What could be more perfect. This dealership had really cute charms that looked like the HD building!!

Oh and we can't leave the blog without giving an update of TerBear's adventure. Now, we all thought that Terbear was such an innocent soul....hmmmmm....NOT.... TerBear is like her twin....she gets around just a wee bit. Check this out...TerBear snuck into bed with Bif!! Bif is an open minded gal but she is not into this inter species dating and our Super Sheri decided there was nothing....nothing right about that dang Terbear in bed with HER girl.
So Terbear was kicked out of bed and sent to sleep in a t-bag.

But have no fear, sleeping in a t-bag did not deter our Terbear from her mission. Bif and Super Sheri got a bit concerned for Terbear. At the Pike's Peak Dealership TerBear went missing!! OH NO!!!! Bif and Sheri almost gave up on Terbear and were about ready to pull out when all of a sudden Terbear sauntered up with a new "friend." Terbear introduced the girls to her new friend who's name just happens to be "Marbear." (hmm something like Marion....) Amd Terbear insisted the Marbear be allowed to come along for the rest of the ride. More about this budding friendship latter!!!

Day 5 - Hanging Out in Keystone CO

Women Bikers every where, ever where.... All kinds and sizes and colors of bikes, all kinds of women - are we in heaven or what?!!! Pretty dang gone cool!!!

FASHION ALERT (an ode to Bif's KP pals and The Daily Fashion Update Followers)
Bif has been amazed at how many women have similar hair cuts to her wacky spiky do. Funny, maybe this is the world she really does fit into :). and that is not the only fashion statement being made at this conference. Never have the girls seen chaps in so many colors. Bif tried to get Sheri into a lovely pink pair with fring. Oh she would have looked so cute in pink chaps...and of course with her bumm hanging out!! Okay maybe not so cute LOL... Seriously, there are a lot of designers here who specialize in clothes for Biker women and some of the clothes are even cute!! Bif bought a light blue sweatshirt with a picture of a women rider that says "I Am one of THOSE Girls'" Even though the pink chaps was a no go for Sheri she did buy the loveliest helmet. It is two tone shinny black and flat black with a tribal design on it and a snappy silver S on the front. And the coolest part is that it has an automatic flip down sun shade on it. When the helmet is on she is magically transformed into our favorite super Hero - SUPER SHERI!! Super Sheri is a bighearted girl and indulged Bif in even more shopping. The stuff at the conference just wasn't enough - Bif sniffed out the local outlet mall and TWO thrift stores!!! She got some lovely shirts and earrings. Ah shopping.....

We also went grocery shopping and ran into our new pals that we met in scary Delta Utah. They are fun gals and they are from California!!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT COLORADO!!
So, we have been very fortunate to have great weather. But in other parts of the state they have had hail storms, tornado's and earthquakes!!! Hmmmmm...We did feel one of the earthquakes - hopefully that will be the limit of the bad weather.

Oh one very important tip for anyone who decides to ride through Colorado. If you go out to dinner - do NOT leave your left overs in you bags on your bike. One poor fellow shared a story of doing that - only to find the next morning that a BEAR had ripped open his bags and gotten his left overs - gull darn it. Will insurance cover the loss of his leftovers..and the cost of a new bag...

BIG NEWS - TERBEAR GETS HER FIRST KISS!!!
OMG.....the bear got a kiss - from a little puppy OMG!!!! Our little girl is growing up. Now, we all know e all embrace diversity but....how do we feel about inter-species dating.....hmmm..... A teddy bear and a little dog...Just think what cute children they could make. A bear that barks and yaps or some other new creature.......

BIGGER NEWS - HD WOMEN MOTORCYCLE CONFERENCE May 22-23, 2010 MILWAUKEE WI
Alrighty all you women riders - clear your schedules and plan your 2010 vacation!! Harley Davidson just announced that they will be sponsoring a women in motorcycling conference on May 22-23, 2010 in Milwaukee, WI!!! OH BOY OH BOY!!! Now I thought we were in heaven here in Colorado- women, bikes and beautiful scenery...But just wait until Milwaukee - it will be better than heaven. Women, bikes, Harley Davidson beer, bratwurst, the friendliest, kindest folks in world, Terbear and TERI (who will be there in person) and Biff's DADDIO!! Yea Babee -better than heaven!!!! And since this is Bif's homeland she will plan a few field trips around beautiful Wisconsin. and a side trip to the international SPAM museum in Austin MN. Bif and Sheri are already planning this next adventure!!

Yummy dinner...crab cakes, baked brie and fruit not a bad way to end a day!!
Oh yea......for that one person who fricking whined and whined....that the blog was up tooooo late the last two days....is this a little better?? Gees stop that fricking whinning NOW!!

Day 4 - 83 miles /1115 total miles Arrived At Conference!!

It was a quick hop skip and jump from beautiful Glenwood Springs to Keystone CO. So we took our time leaving. The ride was awesome!!! The sun was shinning and just a bit of a chill in the air. How can we even describe the breath taking beauty of the Colorado river and the mountains. OMG...it was gorgeous and it just couldn't have been better being on our bikes. Both Biff and Sheri laughed when they passed one rest stop that was named "No Name." Now that must have taken months to come up with that creative name for the rest stop.

About half way we stopped at a charming town, Avon CO, and for the first time on the journey Bif had REAL coffee. Thank god for Starbucks...While taking our coffee break a mom and her small daughter walked by us and our bikes, the little girl pointed at our bikes and said " look at those BIG things!!!" We all laughed and chatted a bit with her. She was fascinated by Bif pinks helmet (that is my kind of girl :)). She told us that her mommy has a scooter too, it is just not so big!!!

We got into Keystone and checked into our hotel. Holly mooly....the view, the view!!! We just have a regular room, no upgrade or anything and we don't know when we have seen such a spectacular view!! We look right out on the Snake River and the mountains. And in the room the hotel has coffee makers with Starbucks coffee!! Sweet!!!

We went down to the conference. It was early check in today. So cool to see all the women riders and they are from all over the country. We've been meeting women from New Jersey, California, Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. And all of them on their own bikes...big bikes and most just traveling with women. And they all have their own tales of weather, police, riding and meeting other women riders. Truly inspiring!! Last year, when Sheri and Bif went to Wisconsin they were a novelty being women riders who rode only with women. We did meet a few other women riders but they were with men. It is estimated that only 12% of riders are women. So, seeing so many women on bikes is a very unusual experience.

Much of the day, Bif, Sheri and TerBear just hung out, met people, enjoyed the sceenery and tranquility. And they found great places to eat. Check out the lunch picture. Bif had some rather spicy, spicy chili verde. In the picture check out Bif's racoon eyes - the biker tan!

TerBear did have to work for her supper. She met a very hip guy at Pizza 101 and he put TerBear to work making the pizza dough. And after such a "rough" TerBear hung out art the bar with an adult beverage.

WOULD SOMEONE TELL BIF SHE DOES NOT HAVE TO SLEEP IN HER HELMET>

Day 3 - 383miles/ 1015 total miles CIVILIZATION

Ok never in my life did I think I would be so excited to see mini vans and strip malls. , Maggie - I have a whole new respect for you and that mom van, never will I give you a hard time for driving a mini van again. I may not be a big urban girl but I sure do appreciate civilization!!! What a relief to get off that hi way 50 and be near civilization again. That hi way 50 was definitely the loneliest hi way and I am glad to off of it!!
And what a ride we had today!! Yea, it has been said before...but WOWOWOW....the Mountains are gorgeous!!! Every turn and every bend we went around there was a view that was more gorgeous than the last view. When we stopped for lunch Bif and Sheri were so excited not to have to eat at McDonalds AGAIN....this time they had choices.....Arbys or Subway....yes were excited to have those choice...bless civilization!!

It was most definitely a surreal experience going through the Mountains and listening to Lord of The Flies. Right as the book was ending Bif and Sheri came off the interstate and at the stop sign Bif rode up; near Sheri and almost started crying because Piggy was killed!! Sheri thought Bif was referring to a pig...a hog...a motorcycle and couldn't understand why Bif was so upset. When Bif explained she was in mooring for a character in the book, Sheri just rolled her eyes!!

At one point, we stopped at an overlook for a better view. Well, it was not only a great view...Sheri used her Kolb powers to make new best friends with an entire bus load of seniors!!! A couple of the ladies sat on Sheri's bike and took pictures and were laughing hysterically. One lady was chatting up Bif and thought she was only 25 years old! LOL....Then Bif had to tell the lady she was only three years away from AARP membership and they all had a good a laugh over that. Bif was touched because she knows riding keeps her young...and it shows!!
When the girls pulled into the Harley Dealership in Glenwood Springs - our stop for the evening - we decided that dealership had the coolest view of any dealership. The big picture windows looked out over the Colorado River and right at the mountains!!!! Breath taking!!!

We keep meeting the nicest people all along the way. It is especially cool to meet all the women riders. At breakfast we met four ladies from California and Oregon who we so nice. We ran into them a couple more times during the day. And when we got into Glenwood Springs Co and were at the Harley Dealership we met a couple more ladies from Santa Barbra. And in the evening at the hotel Sheri buddied up (like she always does) we a couple of guys from West Virgina who just happen to be FBI agents!!!! The women we are meeting a great - so hot that Sheri and Bif are considering changing our lifestyles and becoming polygamists.

Terbear is doing great - the bear is a real trooper and loving being along from the ride!! She did take a bit of a rest under some bushes!!
Sorry about the layout of the daily pictures we will fix them latter. Don't forget to check out the new video - it is a bit long but worth watching to the end!
A note to Teri's mom....would the two of you stop watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and let Teri call Sheri while on the ride...Geeesss priorities!!!!
And please everyone send positive thoughts to Bifs dad who was back in hospital yesterday. He is okay but looks like he will get a defibulator and pacemaker.
