677 Miles
Wowzer We are in Salt Lake City. Holly wow batman that is a heck of a lot miles to ride in one day.
The day began about 5am as Sheri and Biffy finished loading their bikes and said goodbye to their pets. Then off to west Sacramento to pick up the third of this cross country trekking trio plus one rubber chicken. We all filled up with gas and Sheri double checked Gingers work.Seems there once was this little incident when Ginger forgot about checking her gas......
And off we all went.....
It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday morning...Gliding through Sierra mountains, feeling the warm sun as it rose above us, sipping coffee, and listening to npr debate the Biden affair.
By lunch we had made it to Winnemucka NV. Bif had never ridden through the lovely state of Nevada the starkness of the dessert was breath taking.
By about 5pm we had reached the end of Nevada and stopped for gas again. We were all doing great and decided we had it in ourselves to continue the trek the rest of 140 miles and make it to Salt Lake City.
At this stop we met three fellow bikers who were from Salt Lake and were just returning from a journey through Oregon and san francisco. They gave us some tips about hotels to stay in shared biking stories and introduced them into our lovely Thrivette.
The chicken said goodbye to her new friends and off the trekking trio and the chicken went. Biff and the chicken had never been in Utah. The salt flats were stunningly beautiful. In particular the were flats filled with water that looked like mirrors reflecting the beautiful mountains.
Thrivette was a brave soul today and decided to take the journey naked. She is a bit weathered and tanned but still in tack.
The day really was a joy.
Yet there was this one incident of Biffy being hit by an exploding diet coke bottle which was soon followed by her near death from a diet coke cup being propelled at 70miles an hour with the straw aiming directly for Bif's heart. Alas all survived.
And Sheri and Biffy really need our blogger family's help....anyone got a recipe for ZANNY BURGERS?? You know the hamburgers with secrete ingredient zanax???? We need a few such burgers for Ginger....
More stories latter and pictures to be posted when we get better internet access.
Off to bed.
